Monday Moods: “Taro” by Alt-J, “Cherry Wine” by Hozier, and “My Boy William” by Little Comets

Perhaps the morning started off to a slow start or hasn’t even begun to show itself. A warm glow sets the room alight and all you wish is to remain encompassed by your warm blankets until the outside temperature matches the inside. Then you can put your sunglasses on, slip into your comfy shoes, and take a walk to somewhere you’ve never been or somewhere you need to go.

Saturday Sunshine Vibes: “Sagres” by The Tallest Man On Earth, “Brill Bruisers” by The New Pornographers, and “The Party Line” by Belle and Sebastian

Whether you’re outside enjoying those glorious rays or are sitting inside, window cracked open, and sun peering in, these tunes will mix perfectly with the warmth wafting all around and the happy feelings it evokes within. Get up and dance or bob your head around, whatever you do, just enjoy the lovely no matter what.

Mini Reviews: “Hope Is Just A State Of Mind” by Little Comets

From the very beginning, Little Comets has amazed and brought musical delight to me. The first time I heard “Tricolour” off their initial album, “In Search of Elusive Little Comets”, I fell  in love 100% and all thanks to someone near and dear to me. But back to Little Comets!

Their newest album compliments the changing of the seasons into warmer and sunnier days perfectly. The fluidity of the songs is key and spot on throughout the record, filling your veins with positive vibes; making you feel buoyant with cheerful-happy-wonderfulness. While not all the songs have such an upbeat subject basis, the songs themselves, the melodies and tempo and overall structure of them create a lovely tune in your ears. From the lyrics to the notes and everything in between, it truly is a ‘gift of sound’ for you.

Very few musicians nowadays are able to create an album where every song is likeable in its own regard, but Little Comets has done it, and while I have difficulty in choosing just one favourite, some ones I suggest to listen to straight away include, “My Boy William”, “The Gift of Sound”, and “Wherewithal”. But in reality, I love the entire album, and I do suggest listening to the whole album from start to finish first because you will not be disappointed.

Friday Morning Melodies: “The Girl” by City and Colour

As the sun begins to peer through the blinds and you can faintly hear the birds, you almost subconsciously sense that today will perhaps be a little better than the last, even if it’s just the temperature. This morning is a french toast and Tim’s coffee kind of start, a little bit of the things I love to get the positive vibes to hopefully begin and in turn the creative juices flowing.

Spring is just around the corner and it cannot come soon enough. These dark and dreary days can really get you down, so lets start the day off right, with some City and Colour and your favourite breakfast food.
