I look forward to all the picnics and adventures, all the new people I’ll meet. But! With that and all the planning and what not that’s been happening, I’ve sadly slacked on posting the daily songs.

I haven’t forgotten them, I’ve been writing them down and now here for you are the latest additions to this summer’s mix tape. Plus, keep watch, a new mix tape (or two) are on their ways. PEACE.

THE SUMMER MIX TAPE: Day Eleven, Twelve, & Thirteen | “Crash Years” by The New Pornographers, “Night Moves” by Bob Seger, and “Dick & Jane” by Sidney York

While it may be raining outside, don’t let the drizzle upon your windowsill stop you from kicking back and enjoying the spring time air. I find when it rains out, it’s nice to just sit back, relax, grab a book, and listen to the rain fall. There’s something distinctly calming about it.

THE SUMMER MIX TAPE: Day Nine & Ten | “5 Years Time” by Noah And The Whale and “Anna Sun” by Walk The Moon

Yesterday I wore shorts for the first time without tights or stockings and it was a glorious moment. Of course, it was also the first time everyone could see the scar on my leg from surgery and while it’s nerve wracking what others may be thinking, I am not hiding under pants and tights the entire spring and summer season. So I’ve got to suck it up and embrace all of me, no matter what anyone thinks. Plus, if anyone asks, I got it from wrestling a bear, because you know, that’s what we do here in Canada. Duh.

AloTHE SUMMER MIX TAPE ~ DAY NINE & TEN.jpgng with the broadening of my wardrobe, I must share my undying love for handwritten letters. Receiving letters make distances a little more bearable. Of course Skype calls do that too but… getting letters shows someone put time and effort into something, for you. Letters are so personal and wonderful, I love it. Hand written letters tossed together with mix tapes combines for an explosion of good vibes in my books and I just may be creating a new mix as I type this. So lets get down to business and take a listen to the newest additions to the summer mix tape.

THE SUMMER MIX TAPE: Day Seven & Eight | “Into Yesterday” by Sugar Ray and “Liquid Dreams” by O-Town

It’s time to kick it old school and breathe in that nostalgia. It’s a time to remember those days when we didn’t perhaps fully understand all those lyrics but sang along and loved them nonetheless. Both songs capture a sense of warmer weather and a time gone past. One was a great suggestion by a fellow Rooster Teeth Community member, Starlightdoe, and the second was a song that sprung upon the discovery that O-Town is planning a new tour.

THE SUMMER MIX TAPE ~ DAY SEVEN & EIGHT.jpgThe sentimentality is flowing freely and we’re once again whisked away to a time no longer. Whether the skies are overcast, the sun is shining brightly, or our windows are drenched with copious amounts of precipitation, we all know that the general summer months are upon us.

Perhaps we aren’t all on vacation, but lets take these months and create adventures in them. We don’t have to have anything scheduled because it’s in the least likely places that the best moments occur.

So open your eyes, allow your mind to see, and your feet to tread lightly. Push away the negative and embrace the positive because the magnificent will happen when you least expect it.

THE SUMMER MIX TAPE: Day Six | “Cousins” by Vampire Weekend

Because what’s summer time without Vampire Weekend. Get up, shake out your arms and legs, and let the music encompass you. Grab my hand and don’t look back, a wave of adventure is on our way and there’s no stopping now. Jump up, jump down, and move all around. The positive vibes are flowing and the future is THE SUMMER MIX TAPE ~ DAY SIX.jpgfull of good feeling. The only hope for me is you. What is life without the people that complete it?

With each new moment comes a new memory. The warm weather brings a new sense of urgency, a new sense of excitement into our lives. A feeling we can’t ignore and will bring into the rest of our lives. For it is these months that beginnings are born and life long bonds are created.

So follow my footsteps, listen to my words, and let your mind sore. For we are meant to be here. In this moment, in this second, together, a minute apart, a lifetime locked.
